In the subject of music we integrated the following activities :
1. Studying Ancient Greek Music and visiting the Archaelogical Museum
Within the framework of the European project N.A.T.A (2018-2019) as part of integrating project activities in the subject of Music, we visited the periodic exhibition of George Polyzou held at the Museum of ancient Nikopolis in Preveza. There we had the chance to see and admire seventeen reconstructions of ancient Greek musical instruments. (stringed instruments, aerophones, percussions). Then, after we talked about the ancient Greek musical notation, we studied one of the oldest surviving musical texts "Epitafeio of Seikilos" remixed for guitar, flute, piano, ntaϊre and vocals. The"Epitafeios" of Seikilos asks the audience to be happy, not waste time grieving and enjoy life because it's short. ... The song closes with a call to action: to love, to laugh, to play, to live each moment, to sing, to dream, to travel and to discover knowledge through contact and collaboration with other schools and cultures. Something that undoubtedly gained through transnational cooperation within the framework of the European project that we implemented. ( Erasmus+).
What we studied was the Seikilos Epitaph as follows ...
Ο Επιτάφιος του Σείκιλου Seikilos epitaph
Το αρχαιότερο παγκοσμίως γνωστό τραγούδι. The most known ancient Greek music.
« Όσο ζεις, να λάμπεις.
Μη λυπάσαι καθόλου.
Η ζωή είναι σύντομη.
Ο χρόνος οδηγεί στο τέλος».
“Όσον ζής φαίνου
Μηδέν όλως σύ λυπού.
Προς ολίγον εστί το ζήν.
Το τέλος ο χρόνος απαιτεί”.
As long as you live, be happy
Do not grieve at all
Life’s span is short
Time demands the end.
Be happy
Smile
