The first mention of Mikulov dates back to the beginning of the 15th century, when the search for silver began. After some time, silver has been found and the development of the village, and later also the upper town, began, which made the village among the other mining towns around, such as Cínovec and Krupka.
Nowadays the mining is a history and Mikulov attracts rather as a tourist place, especially in the winter months, when the slopes of Bouřňák offer many for lovers of skiing, snowboarding and similar activities.
But even in summer, Mikulov is not far behind, as is the extent of the chalet area and the number of accommodation possibilities. Due to the demanding mountainous position, Mikulov is also sought after by hikers and mountain bike enthusiasts, who are the paradise of the beautifully wooded slopes of the Ore Mountains and many forest paths. Most hiking trails are already connected to nearby Germany.
