One of the biggest contradictions inherent in human nature is that we appreciate only those things that we lack. Water is appreciated only when the wells dry up. But wells dry not only in the areas prone to drought, but also on the water-abundant areas. The problem of water scarcity is well understood by those who struggle with it every day.
It may be hard to believe that the planet's water resources are running low if there is water in each of the taps in our hoses, and we are able to use a hygienic toilet flushing profusely all the impurities. However, we must remember that only 20% of the world's population lives in mentioned conditions. In Africa, it takes up to six hours a day for the women to get water, usually from the polluted sources. The World Health Organization estimates that more than 1.1 billion people worldwide do not have access to clean drinking water. The worst situation is in Africa and Asia. Dirty water and diseases are the factors that can even lead to death. According to WHO, a child dies every eight seconds due to diseases connected with drinking polluted water!
