    Planetarium activities

In another project of the school, the Greek students made an Inflatable Home Made Planetarium (watch it here). Students got in the Planetarium and watched videos about Myths associated with 2 well known constellations (Ursa Major / Ursa Minor and Orion). They also watched videos about the size of the Planets, the Galaxy and the Universe.

Then, they got out of the Planetarium, made teams, created and presented their own Myths and Constellations in a classroom.

The activity is rendered successful, as the average evaluation scores on the part of both teachers and students produced an aggregate result of:

    good 16,7% (29,4%) and excellent 66,7% (52,9%) correspondingly.

Turning a smartphone into a 3D hologram projector

Students divided in groups and made a hologram projector using a clear plastic sheet, a scissor and a glue. Firstly they printed a template directly on the plastic sheet, then cut it, fold the edges and glue. The truth is that this is an illusion and not a true 3D hologram – it still uses 2D images/videos to create the effect, while a true hologram recreates a 3D object and, with current technology, requires the use of split laser beams.

The activity is rendered successful, as the average evaluation scores on the part of both teachers and students produced an aggregate result of:

    neutral 0% (11,8%), good 16,7% (0%) and excellent 83,3% (88,2%) correspondingly.
