LET'S CLEAN UP EUROPE

Let's Clean Up Europe pretends to be the following Action we will do within the programme of the "EWWR".
Both countries, Greece and Catalonia will take part and clean different sites but in the same way, the first one on the seaside and the second one on a river shore.
We will pick up the waste and separate it in. plastic, paper, glass and trash.
After that we will complete a chart in order to analyze the data and take some conclusions and opinions.
Finally we will contact the Media, or the Mayor of our town to tell about our Action and also to suggest a proposal to improve the area which has been cleaned.
Here are some of the results:
COL·LEGI SANT JOSEP, NAVÀS
We cleaned Cal Forcada, a zone near River Llobregat. We had the help of some staff from the Town Hall. We want to thank all of them and specially Susana Ribera, the coordinator of eco-friendly actions in Navàs.

After that, we analyzed and discussed about the results and the Action we did in Cal Forcada, near river Llobregat.
We decided to write a letter to the mayor, telling him what we did and suggesting him that we would like that this area was a leasure zone to go to play with friends, go for a walk, a picnic, and enjoy the nature.
He promissed us to replay the letter and to visit us at school soon.
Which will be his answer?

1st EXPERIMENTAL PRIMARY SCHOOL, ALEXANDROUPOLI, GREECE
We decided to clean up the seaside from the Argo park till the Lighthouse, that means about 500m.
We announced our action at the local radio as well as at one of the local newspapers.
Meanwhile, we sent a signed letter to the Deputy Mayor, responsible for the Green Services, to infrom about our action and ask for support.
We informed also the Helmepa, Environmental Association Section, which is the coordinator organization for the "Let's CLEAN UP EUROOPE" action.
On March 20th, 2018, despite the strong South winds, we started our volunteer work, cleaning up the seaside and sending our important message: We need clean water, we need clean sea and seaside!!
Two of the local TV channels were there, to film us and publish our action to the local news!!!
One more local newspaer publish our action the following day!!
...and what about our report? What we have found is written in our project's worksheet report.

We wrote a Thank you letter to give to our Deputy Mayor to thank him for supporting us with a facilitator, bags and gloves.
...and we visited him to inform about our findings!!

Navàs, 9th April 2018: The Mayor of Navas visits us at school
Today we lived a good experience in class because Mr. Jaume Casals, the Mayor of Navàs came to give us a reply of the letter we brought him in March after the Action "Let's Clean Up Europe". He congratulated us for all the actions we are doing and encouraged us to spread our good habits to our families, friends, neighbourhood and everywhere. He said: " You are the key of the future"
Thanks Mr Jaume, we will keep doing our best!
Here is his letter with the reply: he and the councilors are working on our proposal. let the river Llobregat shore become a leasure place for people to go for a walk, to have a picnic etc.
After the letter, we could show him some of the activities we have been doing during our eTwinning project " URRRGENT! Europe's knocking at the door" such as: the " Climate Action Project" in October, The EWWR in November, " the garlic soup", the Eco-calendar in January... and he also told us about the food waste study and research that the Council has done in Navàs. It seems that that people throw a lot of food and he told us that WE NEED TO WORK ON FOOD WASTE A LOT!
DIPLOMA FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE LET'S CLEAN UP EUROPE CAMPAING
L'Agencia Catalana de Residus, the Catalan waste agency, awarded us with a diploma of participation in the European Week of Waste Reduction.they congratulate us for our efforts, dissemination of the main goal: "the best waste is the waste we do not produce". they also encourage us to keep disseminating and participating in such good actions!
