First training meeting in Sweden

  •   1st - 5th May, 2017

The Week from 1st to 5th May the three partners of the project met in Gothenburg, Sweden, to learn and exchange about Vocational Training and developing teaching skills.

On Monday the Swedish delegation gave us more details about the whole week planning and we all together clarified the objectives of the project. We also showed each other the training courses we have already started to design, mainly the play-list and file cards of each of them. Finally, our hosts presented us a job shadowing observation sheet they are going to start using this very same week at their school, in order to exchange teacher developing skills among their staff.

On Tuesday we were given a tour around Partille Gymnasium. We had the privilege to be able to visit some Vocational Training programmes such as Car Mechanics, Electricity and Carpentry. Our task was to pilot the Observation sheet and pay attention to similarities and differences in our different countries. During the morning, some time was saved for reflection and sharing of our findings.

In the afternoon the Spanish delegation carried out a workshop on Gamification. Many members of Partille Gymnasium were invited and showed up. It was a very fruitful lesson in which the main conceptual background of Gamification in the classroom was presented and in which the teachers started designing their own gamification project. These teachers were full of creativity and enthusiasm; it was a very fulfilling and rewarding training session for all members.

The main aim of the session on Wednesday was to learn about the integration of recently arrived students or students that are starting to learn Swedish, in order for them to join the ordinary classroom and also about students with Specific Needs. We were given a presentation and we were able to see some classes.

On Thursday the Spanish delegation explained their Vocational Training System and ran a small workshop about skillful decision making as a tool for tutors and/or school councellors. There was also time for al members to experience and get to know the project Star for Life which Partille Gymnasium has been carrying out for several years now and has proven successful in tackling Early School Leaving.

Friday started with the Polish team giving a lecture about their Vocational Training System. Afterwards, we had some input about the the European project Plug-in, whose aim is to prevent drop-out, together with a presentation by the headmistress Susanne Krook, on Partille Gymnasium planning and support measures. Finally, we devoted some time to provide some feedback and do the evaluation of the whole week, as well as to plan the whole follow-up.
