Croatian students about meeting in Lugo

  • Visiting Lugo..

    Travelling experience

I was very excited about travelling to Spain by airplane, especially because of people and new knowledges about other countries. The trip to Spain was at least 14 hourslong, we shared a bus with Romanian students and had an amazing but hard day. During our visit of Lugo we learned a lot about their culture, Galicians are very religious people. Their region is famous about Octopus, it's origin Galician food and itis full of people with different nationalities which is the best thing of that region. The best part of the trip were students, they build up their friendships on the whole new level, now we are not just friend we are one big Working in Europe family and we are going to success alltogether.

The trip to Lugo was the longest trip I've ever had but it was also my favorite trip of them all. I've made some great friendships there, especially with the Bulgarian group! I think that it's the similarities in language that made such a great friendship between them and me. And now I can proudly say that they even thought me how to small talk on Bulgarian! That's great about this projects you learn so much. You learn languages, get to know other cultures and learn about your line of work.

LUGO- meeting new – old friends

Saying goodbye to somebody you love and care aboutcan be the saddest thing ever and it was in this case. We had to say goodbye to our friends and there were tears everywhere, but after some time when the news of meeting again came, everything started. Everybody was so excited but the time was just passing so slow. Facebook, Whatsapp were full of messages and pictures of the countdown, and little presents were also ready. If you have theese kinds of friends, the ones that live far away, then you can imagine that warmth around your heart when you realise you will see them again. When that day came, when we saw all of them, that feeling I can't describe, but it was like the piece of you was missing and now you are complete. Those hanging outs in coffee shops all together, playing in the snow, joking, taking pictures just cut into my and everybody selse's hearts and itwill be hard to ever forget. Some things maybe didn't go as it was planned, but people around you with positive thinking made it all better. Almost the same thing is meeting new people because we met a whole bunch of new girls that are just  the kind of girls you would like to spendwhole life with. It slike we had known each other for years and years and we're just building it stronger. I think nobody can immagine how much me and classmates love them. Pictures stay forever and it is a way of never forgetting them, even a piece of paper with something written in a rush means the world. I will never forget each one of them and I can just hope that we will meet again. So, make newfriends, but don'tforget the old ones, One is silver, the other is gold''.

Trips & entertainment – Camino de Santiago, Santiago de Compostela

Travelling is the best way of having new experiences and it opens up for you  the infinite possibilities for your future. One of the many experiences that Erasmus in Lugo gave us is a lot of knowledge about different countries, people and their lifestyle. We learned so much and we met a lot of really lovely and amazing people that we will never forget. The best part of Erasmus was, of course, the travelling part! School is probably the best place to expand your academic knowledge, but when it comes to learning about life, there is nothing more enriching than traveling. Whether it’s the people you meet or the things you see, traveling provides more valuable life lessons than school, most because instead of being told something, you experience it. It pushes you out of your comfort zone.It is a good thing, because it will help you grow as a person. We had a chance to experience and travel through Galicia, the northwestern Spain, where tradition has it that the remains of the saint are buried. Many follow its routes as a form of spiritual path or retreat for their spiritual growth. It is also popular with hiking and cycling enthusiasts as well as organised tours. The Camino de Santiago also known by the English name Way of St. James is the name of any of the pilgrimage routes, known as pilgrim ways, to the shrine of the apostle St. James the Great in the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. Santiago de Compostela is the capital of northwest Spain’s Galicia region and we had a chance to see the city, the cathedral and we made unfogettable memories. The whole city is full of ancient sights and every look, wherever we could have turned, left us breathless. Also, we had a lot of free time to hang out, walk through the city, go for a coffe, shopping etc… At the very end, all I can say to all the people is to travel, as much and as far as you can. Come back and you're going to see your country differently, your going to see everything differently and you will become a better version of yourself.

    VISITING SPANISH FAMILIES

The last day in Spanish we started with breakfast in the hotel. The night before we packed our bags, lef them in one room, and after breakfast we left hotel and went to the school. At the library we were doing teamwork how to become a perfect employee. After that we went on a tour of the museum. Then we were in front of the school, each of us got one person from Spanish to spend the rest of the day with that person. I was standing there, and waited for professor to tell me with whom will I spend my last hours in Spain. I was scared and nervous, everyone started to leave with their partners and I was just standing there and looking around. Then suddenly professor said „Anita and Brais“, I came forward, and I saw a boy who is waiting for me, at first I thought „oh my God, I got a boy, why......“, I was skeptical. But, when I got closer, that boy was waiting for me with smile on his face, and I just felt that he is very nice person. We met and I was a little bit shy as always, but he immediately started to talk. He asked me in which country do I live, how old am I, how do I like Lugo... In front of the school he met me with his friends and his girlfriend. Then we all together went to the restaurant to have lunch. All the way to the restaurant Brais walked past me, we were talking all the time, he was so nice to me, his friends were talking in Spanish and he translated me everything. In restaurant we ordered a pizza and coca cola. He was sitting next to me and we were talking about education in Croatia, and education in Spanish, then we talked about our favourite songs, about our hobies, about people and tradicion... After lunch I asked him to take me to the store to buy groceries fot the trip. His friends came with us and they were waiting for me outside, Brais asked me do I need help but Ii said no. When I entered in the store he came also and said that he will help me, he showed me everything what I needed. His friends and he took me to the park to tour. There were ducks and he talked me about them and then we took picture there. His other friends were passing through the park and he called them to meet me, those people were so kind and friendly. All his friends stayed with us, we hung out  and his girlfriend stood alone, I said him to go with her, I won't mind, and he said: 'No, I have to keep a balance, you are today with me, and I want to make this day best for you because you are here now and who knows when again“, I was so glad, I felt so good and I thought „God, thank you for this boy.“ Soon, we went into town to drink coffee. He gave me a bracelet which he and his girlfriend bought for me to remember them and their town. His girlfriend was so cute and nice, but unfortunately she doesn't know how to speak english. Brais asked me do I know what is mini football and billiards, i said: „Yes, but I don't know how to play that.“ and he answered: „You will learn.“ They took me in one house where they were playing that games, they teached me how to play and they were very surprised at how well I play and they said that I am fast learner. Brais asked me will I have dinner at the hotel or no, I said no and then he and his friend's took me to friend's house and there we ate pizza. They said that they would escort me to the hotel but they don't know where is the hotel. They used google maps and they realized where the hotel is and then they planned when we need to go in order to arrive in time. They escorted me to the hotel, we said goodbye, hugged each other and I thanked them. When I came out in front of the hotel before departure I saw Brais there, I came to him and he hugged me, he was happy because I was still there, he told me to promise him that I will come again next year, and promised me that he will stop smoking. His friend hugged me and said: „I will miss all of you guys, I have never met people like you.“, I was so sad because I think that I will never see them again and I started to cry. I just can't explain how satisfied I am because I got Brais to spend day with him, because these 7 hours spended with him were really perfect, he was very nice to me and he was trying so hard to make my day the best, I hope we will meet again. Actually, all his friends are beautiful, they are so friendly, kind and nice, simply you just feel welcome when you are with them, and I can't explain how incredibly I felt that day. Definitely those people were sugar on the end.

One more trip, goodbye Croatia, hello Spain. It was time to show something that belongs to our Slavonian tradition. We decided to teach our friends typical Slavonian folk dances „Šokačko“„ and „Martinjsko kolo“. Some fifty people and me . I was supposed to explain and teach them. It was not difficult, a bit of music and it started. Those who were not there and saw how they all quickly learned and started dancing, can't understand how good is the feeling. People from other countries accepted and learned Croatian  dances. I also taught them a few lines of traditional song „Ej, oj Đakovo, srce Slavonije, u tebi je Živit najmilije“, which meand „Đakovo is the heart of Slavonia, the best place to live“.  The Expression „Đakovo, the heart of Slavonia“ became protected slogan of my town. Can you immagine how proud we were to introduce small part of my coutry to 50 people. We also learned other countries dances, it is always good to learn something new.  It would be nice if we can do it again.
