D.3 - TM6 / key words in a second language by Italian teacher

  • Main topic:  KEY WORDS IN COMMUNICATING IN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE

     

    Teacher: Primary school English teacher Sabia Vincenzo

    Class: 5th grade Szkola  Podstawowa 15

    Material : set of domino tiles ( in cardboard  of different colours)

    Organization: cooperative work- divide the class in groups of 4/ 5 students each

    Time : 45/ 50 minutes

     

    Step 1 : presenting the first set of cards each of which containing a double face: on one there is a key word written in capital letter, on the second one the main idea they convey  in small letters)

    Step 2 :  Ask them to look at each of them and make them realise that for each card the key word doesn’t match the explanation of the idea they should convey and viceversa

     

    TASK 1 :  Domino game

    • Give each group a set of cards
    •  They choose a card to start from ( any)

     Match each key word with its explanation or find for each explanation the right key word

    ( The game ends when  the last key word matches the first explanation or the last explanation matches the last key word)

    Self evaluation – Ask the groups to shift their position and check the work of another group.( Each group evaluates and is evaluated )

     

    TASK 2 Domino game

    Step 1 : presenting the second  set of cards each of which containing a double face: on one there is a question , on the second an answer)

    Step 2 :  Ask them to look at each of them and make them realise

    •  that for each card the question doesn’t match the answer   and viceversa.
    • Each question contains one of the key word of task 1

     

     

    • Give each group a set of cards
    • They choose a card to start from ( any)

     

     

     

     

     Match each question  with its right answer or find for each answer  the right question

    ( The game ends when  the last answer matches the first question or the last question  matches the last answer)

    Self evaluation – Ask the groups to shift their position and check the work of another group.( Each group evaluates and is evaluated )
