On 30th May we celebrate the Day of The Canary Islands, and we conmemorate the date when the Canary Islands were considered as an Autonomous Community belonging to Spain. We celebrate it with typical dances, food and music. We feel proud of our traditions as can be seen in the colours of our flag: white, (representing the sky and the snow in El Teide, the highest mountain in Spain), blue (representing the sea) and yellow (representing the sun and the sand of our beaches)
My teacher is Virginia Falcón. She taught us that one of our traditions to celebrate the 30th November is the celebration at School of "Los Finados", We perform a play full of details simulating a ceremony dedicated to honour and remember our dead family and friends.
One of the most important celebrations in our school is the Carnival. This takes place 40 days before Easter (between February and March), so we currently have 2 carnivals without being able to celebrate it due to COVID-19. We usually dress up and have parties and performances at the institute, and on the afternoon of "Shrove Tuesday" we participate in the parade through the main streets of Corralejo. Hopefully we can celebrate them again soon.
One of my favorite dates celebrated in my highschool is 30th May. Some years ago we started to celebrate the Day of the Cananry Islands in a different way: WE CELEBRATE A "BEÑESMÉN" that is, we perform a traditional ceremony from ancient times before the conquist of the Canaries dressed as "Canarian aborigines" with a handmade "Tamarco", aborigin clothes made by ourselves in art classes.
CARNIVAL is a great celebration in my school (At least it was so before the COVID-19) We create expositions of posters related to this topic. It is very exciting!https://www.slideshare.net/falemed/carteles-de-carnaval-2012-ies-corralejo

The day we like the most at our school is 27th September - Day of Tourism. That day all students take field trips and enjoy last warm days before autumn.
Gastronomical travel around Europe- Europe Day - this is a kind a project that is traditionally done every year in our school. Each class represents one European country - their task is to prepare a short movie, cook few meals, dress in traditional costumes of that country and do some role play or traditonal dance of that country. We can't wait the begining of May for the celebration.
Virtual Europe Day- due to pandemic situation we couldn't celebrate Europe Day so this year we made e-cookbook.
Throughout the school year there are lot of days we celebrate with our teacher...these are some I particularly like.
