1st June
Our first day in Italy was great. We met at half past nine at Liceo Ascanio. We all talked about our first day with our italian families.
After the greetings, we heard some speeches, school mistress, mayor, other authorities and then the different countries talked about their vilage, school, and project activities.
After that, we had the chance of touring the school. It is really big.
We had lunch, with pizza and pasta and then we had two workshops: civil protection: we were told what it consists of and we learnt that Italy has the highest number of volunteers in this field in Europe.
After that, Italian students engaged us in some activities they did when they were taught how to entertain children at hospitals. We had fun.
We finished everything at half past five and went to the beach with our hosts.
2nd June
Today we started our activities at 10 o' clock. We went to Mobtesilvano Colle to do an orienteering game. We were placed in groups of 3 students from different countries and we had to find different points in the small village. The best group did it in 10 minutes!
After that, we went to the shopping centre to have pizza and at 4 we visited the dog village, a shelter which takes stray dogs from the streets and give them to families for adoption.
At 5 we finished and we went to the beach with teachers.
It was a pleasant day and we enjoyed it!!
3rd June
On this day we did some activities with diferent groups. The circle and triangle group started with the elderly people and told them about our presentation. The square group went to diferent classrooms of the school in Montesilvano to explain our village, our high school and the activities that we did in Catalunya about volunteering. Afterwards, we went to Citta Sant Angelo to have lunch in a shopping center and then we bought some things and we went to visit the city. Finally we returned to Montesilvano with the families and some of us went to the beach with the other people of the project
June 4th
Today we started at 9 o'clock in the morning. Some volunteers of Civil Protection came to do the workshops. We were divided in 2 groups. The first group had to build up tents for people in case of an emergency. Here in this region of Italy earthquakes are common so they need to know what to do. The second group learnt first aid.
We have to say that it was really complicated to build up these tents and it took us all morning to do it under the sun!.
In the afternoon we swapped groups and those who did the first aid in the morning built up tents in the afternoon.
We fisnished at 5 o'clock which was good for us because we could go to the beach again!
It was quite an exhausting day!
