Pugačevova Primary School, Humenné

  • Our school is located in a quiet place and is surrounded by many trees and the big yard for the afternoon activities. There are three buildings – in the main building is the school, the afternoon education continues in the second building and the third is the school canteen where the five cooks cook for us every day.

           

     

    The school was founded in 1960 and in last three years underwent a complete renovation and is equipped with modern technology. We have 476 students whose ages range between 6 and 15. There are 27 teachers, 2 teacher´s assistants, 4 educators, 1 headmaster and 2 deputies of headmaster. The main building includes 21 classrooms, 3 language laboratories, 3 computer rooms, regional classroom with regional items, 6 rooms for the afternoon education and activities and 2 gyms. Each classroom contains a data projector, computer which is connected to the internet and some classrooms have the interactive boards, too. One class is equipped with iPads where the students used them throughout the lessons.

            

            

            

    In our school, we adopt student-centered education for classes we teach. In the lessons such as Slovak, English, German, Russian, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Technology, Art, Physical Education, Geography, History, Religious Education, Music, Citizenship, Information and Communication Technology, Regional Education and Environmental Education. We apply experiential teaching, project learning, engaging CLIL method, we take the creativity in teaching. Our school offers 18 different afternoon activities this year that supplement classroom education.

            

             

            

            

            

            

            

     

    There is also a strong counselling program in our school to meet the needs of the students in their personal and professional development. Working in close cooperation with parents, our advisor also plays a critical role in informing students and their families about secondary school entrance examinations conducted on a national basis.
