Knowing Our Region

  • Within the teaching of Regional Education at our school and the implementation of experiential learning, the fifth and the eighth class pupils participated in an excursion in the town Snina. They viewed a classicist construction of the chapel of the Virgin Mary which is situated on the older of the two cemeteries in Snina. It is one of the historical sites of the region.

Later they visited Snina castle which currently dominates in this town. The building of the castle is a permanent museum exhibition titled Snina in the mirror of time, objects from Jaroslav Drotár and Byzantine mission by Mikuláš Klimčák. The part of the castle was also a gallery exhibition called Returning to folk art which presents examples of Zemplín carving, pottery, weaving and shepherd art in Zemplín.
