This project called "The Smart Schools" and was created by 4 kindergarten teachers. Maria Tsapara, Anthi Arkouli, Anastasia Konstantopoulou and Konstantina Papadogkona. Through this activity students from the collaborative schools transform their schools into a smart school in order to remind to everyone not to waste energy and water. Students created a scale model of their schools and then by using the Invention Kit makey makey kit (The Makey Makey allows you to take everyday objects and combine them with the internet. Using the alligator clips attached to any conductive material you can control the keyboard of your computer, such as the space bar, arrow keys and left click of the mouse.). They created tangible surfaces, by recorded their voices, using the invention kit makey makey and programming through scratch (free programming language). The partner kindergartens are: - 2nd kindergarten of Perama -2nd kindergarten of Peristeri -22th Kindergarten of Keratsini The partner kindergartens will create a collaborative video and a poster in order to present their project to the educational and local community.

    18th kindergarten of Agios Dimitrios:

Students make a model of our school out of cardboard, plastic lids, wooden sticks etc. and other "useless" materials. They have already taken pictures of the electrical appliances in school(fridge, television etc). Each picture is featured on the model. Moreover each one of them is embedded in a q-r code (the app Q R Generator was used for that purpose). All the q r codes were glued on dices made of cardboard. The aims of the activity are two: 1)To familiarise young students with the use of portable devices and apps that can scan and "read"q r codes 2)To use coding direction cards in order to programme the floor robot bee bot Next, students roll the dice, and then, by using the app Q R Scanner and teacher's mobile phone scan the q r code to find out which appliance bee bot should go to. Then they put the coding direction cards in the right order so that our floor robot will be programmed to reach the right destination, the right electrical appliance. Eventually, they suggest ways to use it correctly without wasting the energy needed (eg:If bee bot is programmed to get to the television, they could say "Turn the television off when no one watches it" etc.)
