    Production in Asia:
Nike is the world leader in athletic footwear and apparel. The company, which is traded as NKE on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), has acquired several footwear and apparel companies over its history. The Nike swoosh is one of the most recognized logos, as well as one of the most reputable athletic sponsors in the world. Nike employs over 75,000 people and operates more than 1,000 retail stores worldwide in 2020.

I choose sneakers from adidas and the model is called “stan smith”.
The shoes are made in Asia, USA and in Germany. Asia is one of the cheapest places to produce. I couldn´t find how they are produced but I think the people who are making them are not getting enough money because their job is probably really hard. I have them in 3 different colours and I shopped them in a store in Klagenfurt, it is called “snipes” and I paid 75€ for each pair.
I buy new sneakers whenever I need new ones, but when they don´t fit anymore but are still looking good I donate them.
I personally think that a lot of people want to change the work situation for this people, but the problem is that they are not ready to pay more.

    Hello guys,
this is my own poster about the lifecycle of my sneakers.

    Giulia H. Austria

The shoes I'm wearing most of the times are either black or white platforms from bershka! The brand is from spain and they opened their first shop in germany in 2011. 50% of the item's they sell are being produced in spain. The other 50% are being produced in other european countries and asia. I sadly couldn't find that much information about the production and transportation, but I paid around 40€ for them and I really love them! I don't buy shoes that often, I have like 2-3 favorite pairs of shoes that I wear all the time so I don't feel the need to buy shoes that often. If I stop wearing shoes because I just don't like them anymore or something like that, then I'm just gifting them to my siblings or donate them.

    My sneakers

Ander A. and Ekain E. (Basque Country)

The shoes we are wearing are Nike Air Max 97, which are usually made in Indonesia by Nike company. Nike is a brand from the USA, but they product their shoes on places like Indonesia due to the low cost of the production there. The Nike Air Max 97 model was first released in 1997. The design of the model is commonly thought to be inspired by the bullet trains of Japan, but the design was inspired by mountain bikes. A pair of trainers cost is around $160. The year 2017 marked the 20th anniversary of the Air Max 97. Nike marked the occasion by releasing many colorways and collaborations.

    NIKE AIR FORCE 1' 07
This sneakers, are made in Vietnam. They are very comfortable, but they cost are very expensive. Is true that, they are not plastic in them, maybe this is the reason that they are expensive. They cost is 110 $ more o less. The price may seem a bit high for one shoes but if we look at all the positive points they have, makes up for it.

    Haizea(Gasteiz)

I chose "Salomon" shoes because they're the ones I use the most. The mountain shoes I buy from this brand last a long time so I buy them. But on the label I have seen that they are made in india. I guess they'll do it there because the labor and materials are cheaper. But that means that the workers who have made these shoes will work in bad conditions and get them approved. It can even reach labor exploitation.

Now that I have discovered this, I would like to change the working situation of these people or at least not to consume the products with labor in this way. But the problem is that many people are not willing to pay more money for this.

    Ainara H, Basque Country

My sneakers are from the brand Kalenji and they are made in Mexiko. Mexiko is a big country which culture has got a lot of diversity. Also, in mexico there are spoken more than 2 languages. The official languages are Spanish and Portuguese. Because of the culture diversity, there are lots of museums around the country.
My sneakers are transported to Europe with a huge ship that is filled with containers. I paid around 80€ when I got them. I wasn't surprised at all about the facts that I found out because, I found out about them long ago. But, fortunately, when I stop wearing them it's probably because they don't fit me right so my sister starts wearing them.

As customers, we could donate the shoes or give them to anyone who needs it after wearing them.

    Ziortza O (Basque Country)

My sneakers were made in Cambodia and they are from the brand "Asics". Cambodia is a country in Southeast Asia and it's state religion is Buddhism. The oficial languaje of this country is jemer and prodal is the most commun sport there. This shoes are usually made in bad conditions and their prices use to be really cheap (if we take care of the conditions they manufacture them). Workers don't earn a lot of money and they have cost me 50 euro. I normally buy two sneakers a year and when I broke , I use them in my village.

    Egoitz and Kabir, Basque Country

The brand of the sneakers are nike. They are made in China. In China they make 6000 millions sneakers in a year. This production is the half of the world's production tase. The 30% of the nike sneakers production are made there. They should be produced by forced workers. The workers are paid about 800€. They are transported to Europe using big containers. I have paid more than 110€ for them. I buy new sneakers every year. I give them to my cousin, and then that cousin give them to his brother. We can buy less sneakers, because we don't need more than we have.

    Maria (basque country)

The snickers I chose are named "NIKE SB" from NIKE. They are from Thailand, Asia where the fabric is much cheaper than in USA. I guess the workers spend working many hours and they receive many few money for it. They are transported by plane, track or even ship to Europe. I paid 59,95 euros for them. I am really surprised about the facts I found and I don't buy snickers really often. After using them, they normally end up in the trash and I think we could reuse them and give them in second-hand so they can be used enough.

    Gorka and Iratxe (Basque Country)

Jordan 4 were created in 1989, at first people disliked the shoe, said it looked very ugly, but with the time people start enjoying them. The starting price was 110$ but now they are at 200$. They're fabricated in Indonesia because of the low production price and sold all over the world. Even they are made for playing basketball, most of people use the m for street-wearing.

    Aingeru and Aratz (Basque country)

Production in Indonesia, the brand of the sneakers are Kalenji, is from France. They were produce in Indonesia in bad condition. They are transported by ship. 26 euros. No, we aren't surprised. When my old sneakers brake. Then I throw it to the containers. Yes, we could buy sneakers which are produced in countries they aren't in poverty.

Maddi L. and Kaila (Basque Country)

We have chosen these Vans brand shoes because they are one of the ones we use the most. Vans are made in China and Vietnam, but specifically ours come from Vietnam. They are very comfortable sneakers that combine with all kinds of clothes. However, the fact that they are made in Vietnam implies that they were likely made by exploited people. Now that we know this, we are going to try not to consume so many shoes from this brand and look for more sustainable alternatives that do not violate human rights.

    Maider R. Gasteiz, Basque Country

The sneakers I have chose are Adidas. Adidas produces their sneaker principaly in South and east Asia where workers don't have many rights and making apparel ,therefore it is much cheaper. I paid for these sneakers 55 euros and i have had the for 2 years now. In those two years I haven't bought more sneakers. Soon, I will buy new ones, so I will throw them into the trash can. I think that we, as customers, should try to buy less sneakers and purchase them from brand that we now don't exploit their workers or stay nonchalant knowing the negative impact that they have in the environment.

Niko U and Xabier M (Basque Country)

The snickers we chose are the La Sportiva Skwama, because these shoes have a lot of history. Also, this type of shoes, the normal ones, are very cheap. They are very comfortable to climb, but having to buy them smaller, they are very uncomfortable to walk. They are made in Italy, therefore the working conditions are good, much better than in underdeveloped countries such as Thailand or Bangladesh.

    Nike sneakers:
Produced in Asia, they come at a fairly high price, this due to the fact that it is a well-known and valued sports clothing and footwear brand.
The name of Nike, comes from the Roman goddess Nike, or the Greek goddess Fortuna, which was the one that was prayed especially in ebentos deportibos, that is why the name is currently found in sportswear.
It is one of the companies that produces the most in the world internationally.

My shoes are made in Asia, exactly in China and India. Today, I have been able to wear them thanks to thousands of Asian kids. They work everyday in the factories with no rest. Last year about 5 millions of kids were forced to work for us. Yes, for us, because we are also guilty of that in the moment that we buy the shoes. We could help them easily, we would only have to avoid buying those products which have been made by exploited children.

    Asier Basque Country

My Nike are made in Vietnam, probably in the city of Bien Hoa. They are paid 1.60€ per hour, when the cost of three simple meals is 2.10€. They are transported to Europe in cargo ships. I paid for them 40€ and, I don't get surprised with this facts due to the fact that I have already read a lot of news about that situations. I buy new sneakers every 4 years. When I stop wearing them I always donate them. If we want to help them we would only have to avoid buying those products which have been made by exploited children.

Asier P., Urko MTZ, Josu P., Mikel G., Imanol G (Basque Country)

My sneakers are made in China. They are from Nike and the model is called "charge SLR". As we know about China, is the fourth largest country in the world after Russia, Canada and Antarctica. In addition, the conditions under which workers in China work when making this type of sneakers is better compared to other countries. However, the workers who make these shoes are not paid as much as they should be. In my case, I usually buy new sneakers every few years because I like to make the most of what I have and when they break or get too small I throw them in a specific container for clothes. we should take into account that many times the conditions of people who make the sneakers are very bad and that we should act with consideration when consuming or throwing away our sneakers.

The sneakers I have chosen are Vans. They are from Vietnam; as well as I know, this country is one of the most leading exporters, it is a very poor country and their unemployment rate is one of the lowest of all developing countries in the world. However, the employees work in bad conditions and have low wages. These Vans are exported to Europe by ships and trucks and I paid 75€ for them. I wasn't surprised about the facts I have found because I was aware of this theme. Personally, I don't usually buy sneakers, maybe a pair for a year and after I stop wearing them I leave them for my brother or I resell them. I believe that customers could change lots of things about the story by reusing our sneakers, giving them in second-hand...

My sneakers are Reebok brand. They were produced in Vietnam. It is a country in Southeast Asia. The capital of Vietnam is Hanoi. In this country, there are over 96 million people.
Workers are not well-paid. They don't have enough money for basic needs like food or water.
All products from Vietnam are probably transported by ship or plane.
I paid around 150 polish zlotych for my sneakers.
I don't buy new shoes often so it isn't a lot of money in a year. After I stop wearing them I will probably give them to my younger sister.

I am really shocked about how much water and energy it takes to produce shoes.
I think we can change something about the whole manufacturing industry. If we would stop buying so many new clothes and start wearing second-handed clothes it would help our environment.

I chose sneakers from adidas. I'm not sure but I guess this model is called NMD R1 SHOES. I think they were made in Asia. It seems to me that the production of such shoes is the most profitable there because it is the cheapest. It seems to me that the workers who produced these shoes earn far too little. I paid for them 400 zł. I rarely buys new shoes. I think we could give them to somebody who needs them after we were wearing them.

This sneakers were made in Wietnam. This are nike sport shoes specially designed for running on atletics track, bacause they have spikes on the sole. I bought this shoes especially for training and more important competion. In the beginnig, Nike shoes were produced in USA but with time they were transferred to Asia. I paid for them about 150 - 300 zloty. This shoes are only for running on atletics track !!! You can' t wear them on fresh air. I buy new shoes every few month. I stopped wearing this shoes , because I stopped running on athlets track. In conclusion, I really like to buy shoes.

My sneakers are by Nike. They come from Indonesia. Nike is an American company that is one of the world's largest manufacturers of footwear, clothing and sports accessories. These shoes cost PLN 380. I think it's a good price, the shoes are very comfortable. Half of the world's production is produced in China. This is where 30% of Nike sneakers are made. From what I found, employees get around 800 euros. The sneakers are transported to Europe in huge containers. I buy new sneakers every year, sometimes every two years. When buying new sneakers, I give the old ones to the poorer or throw them into special containers.

    Klaudia 2cG, Kopernik

My shoes are Air Force High, they were made in Vietnam. They are leather and due to the material inside the shoe they are intended more for autumn or winter. Nike is an American company, this brand is already known all over the world. However, the shoes are manufactured in Vietnam, Indonesia and China. People work hard, without interruptions, so that others can buy new shoes. I paid about PLN 650 for them and the quality is great. I have them for the third year and they look like new.

    Wiktoria 2cg Kopernik (Poland)

The sneakers are made in China. These are Nike Jordan sneakers. China is a very developed country with a large population. The Chinese are the main producers. Workers probably earn an average salary. Shipments to Europe are in containers. I paid about PLN 650 for them. When I stop wearing them, they will be destroyed and thrown away. I buy new shoes about every 3-5 years.

    Wiktoria K. 2cG Kopernik

My favorite shoes are the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Move. They are made in the USA. I paid PLN 300 for them and I think it is the right price. The shoes are of very good quality and very comfortable. Converse is an American clothing company. When I was looking for information about this company, I was very surprised that the company is now entirely dependent on Nike. In 2019, it published the preparation of the Renew collection, which uses recycled post-consumer and industrial waste.
