  • TASK 1: DECODING PHOTOGRAPHS

    AIMS

    - Describe, analyse, interpret and evaluate photograps in a collaborative way working in international Jamboard teams.

    - Develop visual literacy skills

    - Develop critical thinking by applying, analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating information based on observation, experience, reflection and reasoning- decoding a photograph and by understanding how a photo can be spread and how the story behind it can have been manipulated.

    - Encourage learners to think about diversity and discrimination and help them understand their own views and choices: Stories that Move (Developed by the Anne Frank House & partners.

    - Construct meaning from images by understanding partners feelings and illustrating them.

    Read the presentation to understand the decoding process. You will find an example of the final task and the links you need to work on this TASK 1. You will complete the jamboards working in international teams.

    QUESTIONS

    1. Look at the facts. What can you see?

    2. How does it make you feel? What draws your eye immediately?

    3. What is the image trying to tell us? What exactly is happening in the photograph?

    4. Evaluate: Title the work by synthesizing what you’ve learned

    Students read/watch news about the photo and reflect on the issues depicted within a group discussion jamboard to evaluate it.

    19 Nov, TΓ‘bor team worked together on Jamboards describing, analysing, interpreting and evaluating a photo of a girl. It was great to see ideas from other school. BTW, our first experience with this tool.
