Hello everyone!
Welcome to our eTwinning project! This year we are continuing working on school values, such as RESPECT, KINDNESS, HONESTY. as well as think about values in "The Two Trees " story, alternatively know as "The Tree Support" story.
And here is our story:
The Tree Support by Bruno Ferrero
Once upon a time there grew a young tree in the garden. It was so weak and frail that the gardener tied it to the strong ash tree pole for support. It helped the young tree to grow straight and stay safe.
When the wind blew, the sapling cried to the pole:
“Leave me alone! Why are you holding me so tight? Look, all the other trees can move freely in the wind but not me! Why do I have to stand still?”
“Because you are young and you might break down. Besides, I don’t want you to grow twisted and disformed,” answered the old wise ash tree.
“Oh, you’re old and envious of my youth, ash! Leave me alone!” cried the sapling and tried to break free, but the ash tree pole held it firmly and did not let it go.
One Summer evening, a strong hurricane came with thunder, lightning and hail. The young tree was tossed around by the wind and bent so hard that its branches were nearly touching the ground, creaking loudly. At one point it was nearly uprooted!
“This is the end!” thought the sapling in despair.
“Don’t give up!” cried the old ash pole through the wind and used its entire strength to protect his young friend. It was a long battle and by the end of it the young tree was safe but the ash tree pole didn’t survive – it was broken into two pieces.
The sapling finally understood what had happened and cried,
“Don’t leave me alone! I need you so much!” but it didn’t get an answer.
One of the broken pieces of the ash pole was tied to the young tree, giving the impression of the last embrace of two friends.
Nowadays, people passing by look with surprise at a strong, tall tree which, on windy days, seems to gently hold and rock an old, shattered piece of dry wood.
Your life is the most incredible gift you are given. How many people should you be grateful to?
