12 The World Book Day

  • Our activities

    FOUR LITTLE CORNERS

It is a story of inclusion.
After reading it, our pupils reflected on these questions:
    • The physical and social problems that a person can find throughout his life, whether by architectural or social barriers.
    • The differences between people: capacities, needs, …
    • The importance of adapting situations, places or contexts to the needs of each person.
Then, we proposed children if they come up with other possible solutions so that the square can go into the house

THE STORY WITH THE LITTLE ONES

The little ones, drew and prepared the story with the help of their parents. Here you can see and listen to the story that they made.

    CONCLUSIONS

We can reach the difference need not be a problem if, between all of us, we’re working to make sure it’s not.
The message is that all the people are different and all the people face problems but if we try we might find a solution. So we must help our friends and don't exclude them because of their problems.
Every person of this planet is different: one is tall, one is short, one is fat, the other one is thin , one is black and the other one is white , …
    To be different is great!!!

    Reflections
LET'S CELEBRATE WORLD BOOK DAY 2020 IN OUR VIRTUAL CLASS

    - FIRST WE STARTED OUR ACTIVITIES WITH A PADLET PROJECT
    - SECOND WE DID A KAHOOT QUIZ
    - THIRD WE WATCHED THE VIDEO "FOUR LITTLE CORNERS" AND WE DISCUSSED ABOUT IT
    - FOURTH WE PREPARED A PROJECT ABOUT OUR FAVOURITE BOOKS THAT SPEAK ABOUT INCLUSION AND FRIENDSHIP.

    FOUR LITTLE CORNERS

We discuss about the story of the square that is different from its friends the circles and at the beginning it wants to become similar to them. The circles think, think and at the end they find a solution to help their friend and to break the barrier of the door.
    - Students reflect about how many times they have felt different or they have considered someone different.
    - Students do some activities in order to understand what are the barriers that create differences among people: languages barriers, architectural barriers, cultural and religious barriers, gender barriers, barriers in education, economic barriers and geographical barriers.
    - Students think about a slogan to say that different is beautiful and they write it .

    MY FAVOURITE BOOK

Students create a project about their favourite books

    Four Little Corners

In Zmijavci we read the story Four Little Corners in groups and discussed it stating the problems and difficulties people face as well as drawing conclusions and messages from the story. If you want to find out more about our work go to Materials - World Book Day in Croatia.

    Four little corners - workshop.

In Poland we continue our work with our students online. During the workshop we watched the film made on the book "Four little corners". Than we conducted a small discussion with our students what happened in the film. After that we divided them into small groups and we asked the to find the answers on several questions, for example: Do You have the possibility to influence your life? Who can help you with your problems? What can you do not to give up? Where can you find help?
After the vivid discussion we have made an agreement that:

    1. We can change the world. Everyone can change the world.

    2. If we want to change sth we should try to start from ourselves.

    3. If there is a problem we can always ask an expert for help.

    4. We can always change the method of our action.
