    GREECE

On the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons, students of our school, members of the Erasmus team "We are European, We are Equal", visited the soup kitchen facilities at the Holy Metropolitan church of Naoussa and offered their help in preparing the meal and distributing it to the homes of the elderly in our town. By participating in this activity, the students felt the joy of selfless giving, got in touch with older people, listened to stories of their youth and realized how important it is to respect the elderly.

To celebrate the International Day of older persons, today we have invited a grandfather at D’Alessandro-Vocino School, to tell about his life experience when he was as young as his granddaughter, who was proud of her lively grandad. Students asked him about his school experience when he was a student, when he started to work, if he is happier to be a father or a grandfather and about his expectations on his grandchildren.

    SPAIN

Last Tuesday 1st of October, Spanish pupils celebrated the International Day of Older Persons at IES Guadalquivir. Third and Forth year classes interviewed the grandmother of two pupils in the school. Luisa Moya pictured beautifully how life was decades ago and raised awareness of the difficulties that old people may face nowadays. As a member of the Parents Association in the school, she is also actively involved in many school activities.

Spanish pupils also visited their nearest nursing home last Thursday in order to raise awareness about the importance of valuing all ages. Pupils interacted and asked questions to residents. They were also shown the different parts of the nursing home and they learned how is the daily routine of a resident. The visit was a valuable experience developing compassion and empathy in our pupils.
