Where and when: IES Salvador Gadea (Aldaia) | 2019-2020

    Who:

Students: 11 students (15 years old) junior tutors | 9 students tutored (12 years old)

Teachers: 3 teachers (Mathematics) | 2 school conselours

    Why:

    1. To support students which are experiencing difficulties in coping with Secondary school requirements.

    2. To foster links between students.

    What and how:

Inspired by an educational experience shared by NoMI partner school in Madeira.

In October 2019, students on the last year of Secondary School were asked to volonteer as junior tutors for students in the first year of Secondary School. Three junior tutors teams were formed, each of them attending the school library every three weeks, on Thusdays from 16h55 to 17h50.

Students to be tutored were selected in November 2019. Teachers identified which of their students were lacking how to study, organising skills and planning strategies. Their families were informed by the school conselours and agreed with the program.

Attendance to the program is being reminded to the younger students every Thursday morning and monitored by the teacher in charge of the school library every Thursday evening.

Junior tutors received an initial training and are getting trained every Thursday by the school conselours.
