In our schools: community SDG in Aldaia

    Why:

    1. To promote global citizenship values in our school community.

    2. To highlight international resources (such as SDG agenda, World and International days) in cooperation with our NoMI partners.

     

    What and how:

    In September 2019 a common SDG and International Days Calendar was established, to be followed along the present scholar year.

    From October 2019 to January 2020 several school classes participated in the escape game "Extinction" (InteRed Foundation) to raise awareness about UN Sustainable Development Goals.

    In November 2019, 16 years old students exposed to 12 years old students the essential data about education in the world. Subsequently, 12 years old students prepared infographics that were shown on their classes and on the school SDG board.

    From November the 5th till December the 5th, all school students participate in Study Aid Olympics, an international project in which every hour of study is matched with an 1€ by diverse sponsors, the fundings being devoted to support educational development projects. In IES Salvador Gadea, 111 students gathered 511 study hours.

    In November the 25th, in cooperation with Aldaia City Council, we created orange and purple umbrellas, with empowering against violence sentences and illustrated biographies of significant women.

    In January the 27th, we commemorate the Victims of the Holocaust Day (on its 75th anniversary) by reading names and ages of children perished in concentration camps and the world "Peace" in all different european languages.
