    Natura 2000 – program sieci obszarów objętych ochroną przyrody na terytorium Unii Europejskiej. Celem programu jest zachowanie określonych typów siedlisk przyrodniczych oraz gatunków, które uważane są za cenne i zagrożone w skali całej Europy. Wspólne działanie na rzecz zachowania dziedzictwa przyrodniczego Europy w oparciu o jednolite prawo ma na celu optymalizację kosztów i spotęgowanie korzystnych dla środowiska efektów.

     Cała sieć Natura 2000 liczy ponad 26400 obszarów zajmujących ponad 318 tys. km² powierzchni morskiej i ponad 788 tys. km² powierzchni lądowej, co stanowi 18% powierzchni krajów Unii Europejskiej. Nasze miasto Wąsosz leży w Doline Baryczy, jest to obszar Natura 2000

    There are currently 145 Special Protection Areas (SPAs) in Poland with a total area of ​​5.6 million ha (including 648.5 thousand ha of marine areas). They were created in 2004, 2007, 2008, 2011, while the youngest were created in 2012. These areas are marked with codes, which consist of the letters "PLB" ("PL" is the Polish code, and "B" is an abbreviation for the English word birds) and six digits

    Zajmują one łącznie około 20% powierzchni lądowej kraju (przy średniej europejskiej wynoszącej 18%).

    Na terenie Polski istnieje obecnie 145 obszarów specjalnej ochrony ptaków (OSO) o łącznej powierzchni 5,6 mln ha (w tym 648,5 tys. ha obszarów morskich). Powstawały one w latach 2004, 2007, 2008, 2011, najmłodszy zaś utworzono w roku 2012. Obszary te oznaczane są kodami, które składają się z liter „PLB” („PL” to kod Polski, a „B” to skrót od angielskiego słowa birds – ptaki) oraz sześciu cyfr.
