Safer Internet Day

  • SAFER INTERNET DAY IN SLOVENIA

Safer Internet Day was celebrated on Tuesday, 11th February. Teachers drew attention to online environment where pupils have so many opportunities to learn, create and participate. On the other hand, they made pupils aware of some risks on the Internet, such as cyberbullying, posting and sharing inappropriate photos, disinformation etc.

Teachers used recourses from Safer Internet Day packages and younger pupils watched educational cartoons and took part in different workshops. Elderly pupils created a questionnaire about online behaviour and analysed the data. 36 respondents aged between 12 and 14 took part in a research. Some pupils admitted that they have already done something improper on the Internet and at the same time 13 % of respondents have already been the victims of the Internet abuse.

    The Beacon's Safer Internet Day

We marked Safer Internet day across each class at The Beacon. Children knew that we were undertaking activities at the same time, on the same day as children in each of our partner schools.
Children in each year group explored different themes associated with keeping safe online. They revisited their learning around where the internet is accessed. Children used trusted website providers to undertake learning activities, made their own presentations to share with their class and created games and quizzes using a variety of platforms including Microsoft Teams and Scratch.
Newsletters were shared with parents and carers to encourage them to support their children to stay safe online.
