C5- Visit to Slovenia:From Manual to Digital

  • The activity “From manual to digital” was originally planned for October 2020 but it was re-scheduled to March 2022 as a consequence of the stop imposed by Covid-19.

    Schools Andrés García Soler from Spain, Beacon Church from England, Osnovna šola Planina pri Sevnici from Slovenia, Istituto Comprensivo San Rocco from Italy and 3rd Primary School from Greece, took part in this students’ exchange activity that took part in Slovenia.

    Participants in this activity were:

    • 3 teachers and 9 students from Andrés García Soler School
    • 2 teachers and 6 students from The Beacon Church School
    • 2 teachers and 6 students from 3rd Primary School Grevená
    • 2 teachers and 6 students from Istituto Comprensivo San Rocco
    • teachers and students from Osnovna šola Planina pri Sevnici.

    Participant teachers and students had the chance to learn about traditional jobs in Slovenia such as farming and forestry and how these jobs have evolved from traditional to modern nowadays techniques. Moreover, teachers and students were involved in school daily activities, participating in lessons and learning about a different educative system. Besides, certain time was devoted to organization meetings where the next mobilities and activities were dated and discussed. To finish, participants learnt from the local environment, visit places of interest in the area and enjoyed Slovenian culture and traditions.

    • Welcome ceremony
    • Job shadowing lesson for teachers/pupils join Slovenian students in lessons
    • Tour around school
    • Walking and treasure hunt around Planina and a visit to Planina’s Ethnological exhibition of farming and the company Tajfun that produces forestry equipment
    • Evening event Let’s meet our Erasmus+ partners – listening to school presentations, meeting the local community and the vice mayor or the municipality Šentjur
    • Twinning lunch and dinner at school

    • Workshop for students on animated short films using stop-motion technique
    • Teachers observe lessons and have coordination meeting
    • Visit of two farms, learning about traditional and modern ways of developing farming job
    • Twinning lunch and dinner at school

    30/3/2022

    • Day trip to Ljubljana, guided walking tour, visit to the castle and free time
    • Twinning dinner at local restaurant

    31/3/2022

    • Workshops for students: Privacy policy and safe use of social networks and Sports games and activities
    • Job shadowing for teachers
    • Final celebration of the Erasmus+ week at Planina’s school, evaluation of the project meeting
    • Visit to Tehnopark in Celje where students learnt about technology, experiments, science…
    • Farewell dinner at local restaurant.

    The results of this activity can be shown in an improvement of our students’ use of new technologies after developing different workshops on this topic. They have also learnt about how Slovene traditional jobs have evolved until present days and how technology can facilitate these hard jobs. They have learnt from Slovene culture and, of course, they have improved their use of foreign language as the only way to communicate among partners from different countries. Pre and post travelling surveys show how this experience has affected our learners. Results can be checked in our e-twinning page.

    The main benefits for the participants are:

    - deeper knowledge of digital tools and safe use of the Internet,

    - improvement of teachers’ and students’ digital competence, 

    - knowledge of a different educative system, lessons, spaces, contents organization and educative approaches,

    - teachers learnt from other Slovene colleagues through job shadowing and sharing teaching experiences and resources,

    - participants learnt about local traditional jobs and its evolution until nowadays, from traditional forestry and farming to modern techniques,

    - participants improved their linguistic abilities in the English language as all the planned activities and interaction among teachers and students were always developed in the foreign language,

    - participants also had the chance to visit some historical cities, learn about their history, appreciate their main monuments and develop social skills.
