Curricular integration

  • Integration of the project objectives and skills development in the Portuguese official English curriculum

    Aims and Objectives of the project:

    The project aims to:

    - develop the students' language skills.

    - develop the students 21st-century skills.

    - create a cultural exchange between the different partners in the project.

    By the end of the project, the students will be able to

    - practise writing as a process by

    • introducing oneself to others 
    • interacting/ chatting online
    • debating with others global issues

    • describing in a concise text a local problem

    • collaborating with their team to write an action plan

    • analyzing and editing  others writing

    - apply their knowledge (SDGs, language grammar and punctuation rules, coordination and use of linkers, etc...) to describe global and local issues and to draft a plan of action and write a report.

    - collaborate with peers to achieve a task.

    - use ICT to accomplish a task

    - use ICT to collaborate with peers online

    - debate with others 

    - practise speaking by

    •  interacting with their partners in online events
    •  presenting to their class the results of their work

     

    In Portuguese School, this project was integrated in the regular activities of the English lessons year 7  class E and year 9 class EE (from a small school in a village near Sátão) so as to learn the topics and language structures of the curriculum (instriducing oneself, presenting the school, reading and replying online messages, etc...) in a more active and relevant way.

    The class decided to join the project and organised an action/ campaign for the issue they chose for their transdisciplinary project which involved subjects like English, Portuguese, Maths,Geography, Visual Arts, ICT, Technological Education, Physical Education and Religious Education.
