I liked the film about 303 Squadron and our visit to local museum in Dzierżoniów, where we could watch an exhibition about Polish pilots in the Battle of Britain. Lessons about WW2 in English was a good way of studying. (Martyna, Year 7)

    Teacher's reflections:

I had always wanted to study the Battle of Britain with my students. I was happy when English teachers agreed to work on this subject with me. Cooperation with English school gave us the opportunity to compare the points of view on the Battle of Britain from Poland and England.
Polish students in Year 4 read  'The Chronicle of Narnia' and they knew a little bit about children leaving their homes in London during the war.

Now they enjoyed watching 'Goodnight Mister Tom' (in English) and drew pictures for William story, we discussed the film in the classroom and playing kahoot about the film during videomeeting with English students was a great experience for them.

As an English teacher I was happy my students enjoyed working with the materials from partner school about WW2 in the UK. They understood a lot and could answer the questions pretty well.

The oldest students in my school - Year 8 helped us with translation of parts of the book 'Goodnight Mister Tom' as there isn't any Polish translation of this book. Some of the students managed really well. I will use their translation working with younger students.

Project gave an opportunity for each student to develop his/her creativity as we used different methods of teaching: film, documentary, worksheets, singing, drawing (pictures, logo),  making models, speaking, studying history at home (prresentations), gaming (quizzes), visiting museums (exhibition about Polish pilots in the Battle of Britain, visiting Westerplatte), translating, writing (letters to William, letters to English students).
