Videoconference

  • All six countries participated in a videoconference, celebrating the European Day of Languages!
Through the videoconference children from each country had the chance to present a game, sing songs in their mother language, greet the children from the other countries, listen to their songs and watch their games!
It was an amazing activity that gave stimuli for discussion and empowered children!
Thank you all for being there!!

    GREECE

The children presented the traditional game "The bee goes round and round".
Each kid had created a unique bee hat and a bee mask! They were very excited to meet the kids from the other countries and sing the "bee song"!

Except for the videoconference, the children had the chance to get exposed to different languages and meet countries through parents' presentations!
Parents who have a connection with a country, were invited to present the language, the culture, traditional objects, music and games. A huge thank you to all the parents that came and supported this activity! It was, indeed, a wonderful day for us all!

    ITALY

The Italian children played the traditional game of Regina Reginella.

Players must be at least 4. The ideal number is 10 players.

With a counting out rhyme, a "queen" is selected; she will stand on one side of the playground, opposite the players. Then the children chant this rhyme: " Beautiful, beautiful Queen, how many steps do I have to take to get to your castle with the faith, with the ring, with the tip of the knife?" The Queen calls out a number of steps and a name an animal; all the children must take those steps pretending to be that animal, for example, if they are ants they must take very small steps; if they are elephants they take huge steps.

The game ends when a child arrives first in front of the Queen: that child will be, in turn, the Queen for the next round of the game.

Then they played words games and made a book with the words learned

After the video conference they played also with flags puzzles

    GAME: FATHER WIRGILIUSZ

    Music and movement game.

Children form a circle, holding hands. One child - Father  Wirgiliusz - stands in the middle. The wheel rotates in the rhythm of the song.

Father Wirgiliusz was teaching his children,

He had them all one hundred twenty three.

Come on, children, come on here,

come on here, come on here!

    Do everything

that I do, that I do.

After the words „one hundred twenty three” all stop, turn to face the center of the circle and clap their hands. After the words: „Do everything that I do, that I do” Father Wirgiliusz shows some simple gestures, exercise (eg. squats, bows), and all of them are repeated until the end of the song.

Then a new Father Wirgiliusz is selected and the play begins again.

    GAME: BLIND LITTLE CHICKEN

    Music and movement game.

The blind little chicken is a simple and very fun game, which serves both to entertain children and to succeed at a birthday party, for its simplicity and the laughter that it usually causes in children.

This game helps children understand the importance of the senses, as it is played with blindfolds. Thus, children will also learn to move with greater confidence and agility.

    1. In the first place you should choose who will wear the bandage, that is, the one who will play the role of a blind chicken and must find the rest. Once chosen you should put a handkerchief in your eyes, deform that you can not see anything.

    2. The rest of the children circle around the blind little chicken, holding hands. The "little chicken" should take three turns on herself before she starts looking, so she doesn't know where she is.

    3. The task of the chicken is to catch some of the children, who can move but without letting go of their hands. When the little chicken has a child, he has to guess who he is by touch. If successful, the roles are exchanged.

To play this game, you can start by reciting this popular children's verse: Little chicken, little chicken, what have you missed in the haystack? A needle and a thimble ... Take three turns and you'll find it.
