  • Pepe Dámaso is an Infant and Primary State School located in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, one of the two capital cities of Canary Islands, the farthest Spanish region and very close to the west coast of Africa.Althought most of our pupils are from ecocnomic lowerclass background, they attend classes regularly and show interest for the learning process. They are Spanish language speakers. Pepe Dámaso was the first school in Canarias that implemented the CLIL approach. Learning progress, the quality of knwoledge and skills transfer, and passion for learning are the school ́s primary aims in order to support the students to become responsible and socially competent individuals. For this reason, teachers and pupils feel strongly motivated to work with other schools around Europe to make the classroom projects lively and interactive. As a school, we are extremely proud that Pepe Dámaso has a very postive reputation in bilingual Education. Nine from twentyfive in staff are English teachers. A key goal in Pepe Dámaso School is to ensure success to all students.To get it, we build the Curriculum through effective teaching methods such as multidisciplinary lessons and integrated teaching of basic skills. We teach Literacy and Maths in Spanish and Science, Social studies, Art and PE in English.We believe in inclusion and have a Special Needs teacher who serves students in our PDA( prevention of learning difficulties) programme.Drama is periodically incorporated to teach subjects as an educational tool to encourage communication skills, promote teamwork, reinforce concepts and foster selfconfidence and personal growth. The aim of the project is to provide resources that will enhance and enrich the teaching and learning of Maths. The activities are cooperatively designed by all the teachers involved in it.The Deputy Teacher will be the project coordinator in the school. She is used to choose effective means of coordination among the staff and promoting families participation in school life within Open Days and workshops activities organization.ICT tools are used to support teaching and learning.
