Extra LTT activity in Hungary 4-10th July, 2021

  • 'Make a change' Budapest mobility 2

This was a 'bilateral' meeting of Croatians and Hungarians. New students to the project were introduced to social inclusion and social entrepreneurship.

Before the mobility students were asked to choose a social issue (e.g. ethnic minorities, cyberbullying, gaming addiction, school vandalism, animal rights) and make a presentation about it. The presentation should have included a research on the issue, data, facts from the world and from their home countries; the exact problem / difficulties; and possible, practical solutions. These ppts can be seen at the Materials section.

The topic of this mobility was people with disabilities, again, especially visually-impaired, blind people. Participants visited a café run by a foundation which aims to integrate disabled people. Students had a chance to talk to the leaders, workers of the café and get to know their successes and everyday difficulties. Students had the opportunity to visit the Sensory Garden in Budapest which is a park especially designed for the blind. Students learned how the blind spend their free time and even tried to take part in games (bling table tennis, blind nine pins) played by the visually impaired. Finally they met a volunteer who trains guide dogs for the blind and experienced being led by a guide dog.

Beside social inclusion workshops, participants took part in entrepreneurial workshops, too. During the mobility students worked together with their foreign partners to organise a school awareness campaign. Based on their previously chosen social issues they prepared some posters to attract their classmates' attention and then made an escape room collaboratively on genial.ly to bring these topics closer to their schoolmates. Hopefully, after going back to school in September, this escape room will be a good method to raise students' interest and make them more active socially, or even start a new Erasmus project.

Students took part in sightseeing programmes, and of course in the summer it was a must to go to a beach, too.

After the mobility the follow up task was to fill in students' diaries, and to organise the campaign which was planned during the mobility.
