    1ST GENERAL LYCEUM OF ARGOSTOLI

    ACTIVITIES

    ART AND CRAFTS ACTIVITIES

    A) SIX NAMAS' CREATION

    AN APPLICATION OF GOLDEN RATIO

    DECEMBER, 2017

Croatia, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Portugal and Turkey are the Six "NAMAs"! They are sisters as well mothers of a child. The child is called "Water unites us!". They are keeping their child with their left hand. Where does the name "NAMA" come from? “MANA” means “mother” in Greek. Changing the position of the letters in “MANA” here it comes the word “NAMA” which means “the water of the spring”! “NAMA” is a combined application of maths, biology, chemistry and arts and craft and made by foam material. Nick Pexomatis, teacher of art in "Marinos Korgialenios", made a three dimension design of “NAMA” on white paper using ferule and pencil (application of maths, 1st step). The design is an application of Golden ratio.

Students followed the design and cut the foam material properly, using a lancet, a tool of anatomy (2nd step).

Thereafter they painted “NAMA” with water-based glue (3rd step) and with water-based paint (4th step).

Finally, they painted “NAMA” once more with water-based glue (5th step) so as to stabilize the color.

The three last steps are applications of chemistry. It was a team work of a group of students of class A of our school, Maria Vandorou, Koralia Vasilia, Evi Gontika, Chrysa Destouni, Cristi Kounadi, Naja Tsamopoulou and Artemis Staveri (girls) and Gerasimos Avgerinos and George Papageorgopoulos (boys).

Spyridon Kavvadias (Dr biologist and project coordinator) had the responsibility of the whole procedure.

    B) STUDENTS' CONSTRUCTIONS MADE BY

    NATURAL MATERIALS

Our students prepared constructions with natural materials such as small stones and limestone shells collected from the seaside.

    C) MEASUREMENTS OF ABIOTIC PARAMETERS

OF THE WATER IN THE FIELD (PORT OF

ARGOSTOLI AND KOUTAVOS LAGOON) AS WELL

    AS IN THE SCHOOL LAB.

Greek students measured water temperature in the field with a common mercury thermometer.

Water samples were collected from the field and transfered to the school lab for the following measurements a) pH with pH paper as well as with sensitive sensors, b) conductivity with sensitive sensors.

Furthermore, pH, temperature and conductivity were measured in tab water of Argostoli.

    CLEANING ACTIVITIES

    SUNDAY, APRIL 29, 2018

A group of Erasmus teachers and students - and not only - of the 1st General Lyceum of Argostoli did cleaning activities on De Bosset bridge on Sunday, April 29 in the morning in collaboaration with the Councelor of the Environmental Education of Kefalonia, the Municipality of Kefalonia as well as the Environmental Educational Centre of Koutavos lagoon. Respect to the environment is a must forever and for everybody! Recycle, Reuse, Reduce are three "key" actions for a safe future of planet Earth!

Agrupamento de Escolas de Paredes  de Coura, PORTUGAL

Throughout this two years we participated according to what was written in the project. We held the first mobility whose theme was Water Sports, we organized different water sports in the local pool, surf activities in the Atantic Ocean and other cultural activities. For the other mobilities we created videos and presentations about: flora and fauna of River Coura; local traditional recipes, etc. As final product we had to create a digital album. All of these are documented in the different pages and materials of this Twinspace.
