MODULE 4 CULTURE HERITAGE THROUGH THE EYES OF HOMELESS PEOPLE

  • Hostile architecture is a form of urban design that discourages homeless people from using public spaces.

Look at this video about "defensive architecture": It is about different ways of preventing homeless people from resting in public places.

Task1. What do you think about "defensive architecture". Go to the forum and share your opinion.

Some social enterprises in big cities are helping homeless people get back on their feet, by becoming tour guides.

A handful of homeless people in the Greek capital have been offered paid jobs giving tourists a glimpse into their lives on the back streets and alleys of Athens.

In Barcelona homeless people are the guide of tours focused on the experience of being homeless in this city.

Task 2. Have a look at this link: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/gallery/2018/feb/27/traces-of-warmth-thermal-images-of-londons-homeless. Choose one of these pictures made by Grey Hutton, who spent a winter photographing homeless people with a thermal imaging camera, and comment the reasons for your choice.
