About the project

    Students from all over Europe will discover in various european languages the images that carry idioms and proverbs with them , exchange and illustrate them in a creative way. At the end the students shall produce together an e-book of European idioms.

    aims:

    LANGUAGE SKILLS: improvement of German language skills in reading, speaking, writing and listening (mode of expression, vocabulary expansion ...)

    SOCIAL SKILLS: Get to know other cultures - motivation to learn German - the development of creativity in students - development of self-confidence of students, joint planning and cooperation, bigger motivation to learn foreign languages??, teamwork, responsibility, meet classmates from many other countries of Europe, cooperate with them in a joint project , similarities and differences in the various languages

    COMPUTER SKILLS: Create and share slide shows, MP3, Video, eBooks

      OTHER SKILLS: better Performance in ICT,  know and practice new Web tools, write e-mails, chat and discuss in the forum about everyday topics

    work process:

    September: Twin Space Training for Projectparticipants (teachers, students) on the spot; Introductions and mutual understanding through games; Project funding in the school / parent meetings / local media; cross-group brainstorming (suggested topics, content and ICT tools)

     October-November: Each country starts with a theme. Idioms are sought in mother tongue, then explained in German and / or English, and a matching counterpart in English and / or German ist to be found. Each version is illustrated by the students; make short dramatization, small texts with the phrases (as dialogs in speech, stories, jokes, poems or songs) can accompany the illustrations.

    December to March: students from all countries  will work with the expressions from the other countries in order to  find a counterpart in native language, and in German / English and illustrate it. At the same time can take place videoconferences and collaborative games and puzzles for phrases;

    May-June: production of e-books of European idioms (one e-book per subject) .Audio and video recordings

    June: evaluation of the project; Project promoting of the common results and exchange of good practice EDU (school / parent meetings / local media ...); 

    expected results:The students improve their German language skills, but also consider the multi-cultural diversity as an asset through knowledge and contacts with other cultures.

    The project participants are going to publish their project results to Twin Space (and on project blog). They will learn personal responsibility in the learning process (supported by information and communication technologies)  through dialogue between different communities. They develop their skills (learner autonomy and self-directed learning). They are here to be made ??aware of certain problems, including Consideration of copyrights, selection ability of the published content.
