Our original GAPIE board game

  • After working in international groups creating the boardgame and its cards, it was time to play. Here are some pictures and a description of the work process!

    1. First we split into international teams. Each team comprised of students from each school. Each group of students was given a topic to write questions for.

Group 01 - Everyday: In international groups, think of questions on everyday routines to use for the game.

Group 02 - Adjectives: In international groups, think of questions on adjectives to use for the game.

Group 03 - Animals: In international groups, think of questions on animals to use for the game.

Group 04 - Sports: In international groups, think of questions on sports to to use for the game.

Group 05 - Music: In international groups, think of questions on music to use for the game.

Group 06 - Food: In international groups, think of questions on food to use for the game.

Group 07 - European cities: In international groups, think of questions on European cities to use for the game.

Group 08 - European tourist attractions: In international groups, think of questions on European tourist attractions to use for the game.

Group 09 - School: In international groups, think of questions on school to use for the game.

Group 10 - eTwinning: In international groups, think of questions on eTwinning to use for the game.

    2. The teachers then checked and corrected all the questions. Once the answers were corrected the students uploaded them to the twinspace forum.

    3. The board game was designed using one of the project logos from each country. The students created the game cards needed for the game.

    4.   We thought of instructions:

    • Each player puts their counter on the space that says 'start'.

    • Students take turns to roll the dice. Move your counter forward according to the number of spaces shown on the dice.

    • If your counter lands at the bottom of a ladder, you can move to the top of the ladder.

    • If your counter lands on the head of a snake, you must slide down to the bottom of the snake.

    • When you land on a number, you must answer a question.

    • The questions are in different categories and are coloured. Answer a question that matches with the colour of the square you are on.

    • If your answer is right, you stay there and wait for your next turn. If your answer is wrong, you must go back 3 spaces. If you land on a ladder after getting a wrong answer you must not climb the ladder. However if you land on a snake you must go down!

    • The first player to get to the space that says 'finish' is the winner.

    5. Then the students played the game!
