  • Letter to the European Governement

    Context :

When we go to the supermarket, in France or in Slovakia, we can notice that organic and local products, fruits (like clementines) and vegetables (like tomatoes), are most expansive than frozen products, and generally processed food, and even fast food...What's the point ? It's a little bit strange and peculiar...

Why a product with good nutritional values should be more expansive than a poor quality and very bad food for the consumer's health ? That's nonsense !

So we decided to write a letter to the European government, in order to denounce that, and take action !

Enveloppe, Adressée, Postaux, Adresse, Mail, Timbre

Dear Sir European Minister for Health,

Recently, me and my friends, we are wary of the quality of food and their composition. Fruits and vegetables are more expansive than processed food and fast food. This situation is unacceptable ! The nutritional values are not very good : She is too fat, too much sweetened and salted and generally, too rich in chemicals ! But, do you know the "five a day" recommendation ? It's can produce positive results and also help to reduce obesity among children and adults, because they are composed of a lot of vitamins. Food is a necessity of life so it’s only natural to have strong opinions about something that’s so vital to you !

In life, there are two type of consumers : People who prefer to spend more money in order to eat better and more balanced, and the others people, who doesn't have a lot of money. They can't spend a lot for fruits...

In fact, if fruit and vegetables were cheaper and truly fresh, more people would eat them ! For example, those antixidant-rich blueberries ,we are told we need to fight off a lot of diseases (the cancer mainly),  are 63.90$ a kilo in our local supermarket this week, and the bottom layer of berries in almost every 7.20$ punnet I pick up is mouldy. Baby broccoli, another "superfood", costs approximately 3$ for five bendable stalks with questionable nutritional value after a lot of months in cold storage ( because they are processed food). In France now, we bought a kilo of clementines for approximately 4 Euros. They had no taste... Why ? Because they were imported (so no local) !  Indeed, when fruits and vegetables are overpriced and underwhelming, where is the incentive to make healthy choices ? That's nonsense ! In addition to that, a new report by the famous Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, reveals a diet low in fruits and vegetables is killing more Australians than diets high in sugary drinks, salt and saturated fat, so Junk Food. Alarmed ? You should be !

So, Sir Minister, let's make fruits and vegetables cheaper, and increase the prices of junk food (Processed food, fast food) and start to live healthier in a better world ! This action must be in all European supermarket !

    Yours sincerely,
