Day 1

Introduction/Orientation: The aim is to help to get the participants oriented to the objectives and contents of the course.

- Identification of ways in which learning difficulties and disabilities impact on the learning of students.

- Devise a model of programming and reflect on classroom practice.

- How to manage the process of developing an IEP for a student.
- Identification strategies for involving others in the development of an IEP.

- Processes for effective teaching.
- Meaning of ‘effective instruction’ and ‘explicit teaching’.
- Strategies that can be used to enhance teaching and learning for students with learning difficulties and disabilities.

- Processes for monitoring and reporting student learning.
- How evidence from student learning maybe used to evaluate the effectiveness of teaching.

Ed eccomi in classe, questa volta come studente, con 16 compagne provenienti da Romania, Lituania, Estonia, Cipro, Malta, Norvegia e Grecia.

VISIT TO A SPECIAL SCHOOL
Emozionante visita ad una scuola per ragazzi autistici, circa 60 allievi dai 6 ai 14 anni. La scuola è un vecchio edificio dipinto con colori sgargianti che non nascondono le inferriate alle finestre e misure di sicurezza che mi ricordano più una prigione che una scuola. Interessante capire come funziona una scuola speciale in Grecia, gestita da un direttore e pochi insegnanti ed assistenti che, con un budget molto ridotto deve far fronte a molte difficoltà e problemi.
WALKING IN ATHENS
E nel poco tempo libero si visita Atene distante dal Pireo 10 km. circa e si raggiunge con la metro o in bus in 30-40 minuti. Interessante la visita al museo dell'Acropoli e al Partenone che si trova sulla sommità di una collina in pieno centro della città. Numerosi i monumenti visitabili tra cui lo stadio delle prime Olimpiadi e le rovine romane. Non mancano i locali tipici con ottimo cibo e vino locale a prezzi modici.
