    The aim of this project is to give students of different levels and ages an opportunity to communicate one-on-one with a student from another country via an e-mail exchange. Each student is assigned to write at least two e-mails to (a) student(s) from another school in, if possible, a different country. It is hoped that students will keep the correspondance going after the project is over.

    OBJETIVOS

    1. Ability to communicate in one’s own and foreign languages using the appropriate
    terminology in this subject area.
    2. Ability to reflect on one’s own values and to question concepts, ideas and theories
    3. Awareness of and ability to use different disciplinary methodologies in an integrated way.
    4. Ability to interpret European events, developments and policies in national, regional and
    local frameworks.
    5. Awareness of the complexity of the process of wider European Co-operation.
    6. Awareness of and respect for points of view deriving from different European national and
    cultural backgrounds.

    PROCESO DE TRABAJO

    Step 1: Gathering information.
    Task of the students:
    Gather information about the country they are going to write to. Gather information about
    how to write an e-mail in English; useful language used for writing e-mails in English.
    Task of the teachers:
    Gather students' information (names and e-mail addresses). Compile this information in a list
    and exchange list(s) with foreign teachers.
    Step 2: Preparing for the project.
    Task of the students:
    Look up information about the foreign country / culture.
    Practice how to write an e-mail in English.
    Task of the teachers:
    Discussing the differences between both cultures in class.
    Teaching the students how to write a proper e-mail in English.
    Step 3: Starting the project.
    Task of the students:
    Write two e-mails on the set dates (follow the information in the task description).
    Task of the teachers:
    Monitor the process of the students, assist wherever possible, keep close contact with the
    foreign teacher.

    RESULTADOS ESPERADOS

    Verwachte resultaten:
    -the students' comprehension of the English language will have been improved.
    -the students' skill in writing a proper e-mail in English will have been realised.
    -the way in which students perceive themselves, others, the world and Europe as a whole
    will have been established.
    -the students will have been provided with a platform in which they can safely explore
    different countries, cultures, customs and international contacts.
    -A contribution will have been made to create a feeling of togetherness and harmony
    between European citizens.
