Transnational Meeting in Greece

  • Thanks, Liana! Great presentation!

The first transnational project meeting took place in Heraklion (Greece) from 29th November to 2nd December 2017. The aim of the visit was to discuss the details of each stage of the project, the schedule of activities, the budget and how to promote the results.

The visit had a very tight schedule. We spent most of the time at the school, where we received a very warm welcome from the headmaster, teachers and students. The pupils sang English songs and performed traditional folk dances. They also gave us hand-made Christmas decorations.

Each partner had prepared a presentation about their country, town and school. Everyone tried to present the most beautiful and interesting places in their country, as well as their traditions and culture. We also discussed details of the project activities, financial matters and organisational issues of the upcoming visits. We had a tour around the school and we got a chance to talk to the teachers and students, thanks to which we could compare the school systems in our countries. Such an exchange of experience is a key element of the project.

Despite the tight schedule, we managed to see the most beautiful sights in Heraklion – the capital of Crete. We were impressed by the ruins of the Knossos palace – the cradle of the Minoan civilisation. We also saw the Venetian walls, the Old Town with the Morosini Fountain (the fountain of the lions) and the Venetian Loggia. Moreover, the hosts did their best to familiarise us with their cuisine. So, during the meals we were served Souvlaki (meat, chips, tomatoes, onion and tzatziki sauce in a pita wrap), Dolmades (grape leaves stuffed with rice), Horiatiki (Greek salad) and other delicious dishes.

The warm and sunny weather as well as the hospitality of the island's citizens made us feel really special. Thanks to the face-to-face contact with the other partners we look forward to further fruitful cooperation.          Renata Zalewska
