    Interdisciplinary competition from Maths, Biology, Chemistry and knowlegde about Italy.

    In November the Erasmus+ group organised an interdisciplinary competition from Maths, Science and knowledge about Italy.  Students had to solve 12 tasks.  Those who won, got additional points in the recruitment for the mobility to Italy.  The tasks were not difficult but the participants had to think a lot to solve it.

    The information and communications technology international competition "Ventspils IT challenge 2017"

    Students from Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania participated in IT. The Lieporiai gymnasium students participated in the competition in Venspils (Latvia) from 15 – 17 November, to witch almost 300 participants travelled to from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. Each team consisted of three students and one teacher or counselor. As part of the "Erasmus +" project students of Lieporiai gymnasium: Lukas Skėrys, Rytis Strankauskas, Rokas Šimulis and computer science teacher Jovita Navickienė took part in the selection and got into the final. First task of the competition was to find a problem in their place of residence (in a village, in the county, in the city), to create a short video with the problem and the possible layout of its solution and to publish it on the site on YouTube.

    In the finale of the “Ventspils IT challenge 2017” the participants were actively solving the given problems and tasks, participated in different entertaining activities and got to know the city of Ventspils through excursions. On November 15, the 5. - 12. grade groups arrived. They explored Ventspils by participating in the photo orienteering competition and partook in the evening activity in Ventspils Creativity House.
    On the second day of the competition on November 16, when the smallest competition participants (1. – 4. grade) arrived all the students were actively working on the given tasks in Ventspils Digital Centre, Ventspils Creativity House and Ventspils University College. And in the meantime, the teachers visited Ventspils International Radio Astronomy Centre in Irbene and participated in an educational program specifically designed for them.

    After all the hard work during the day the participants enjoyed a relaxing evening in Ventspils Creativity House where they sung karaoke, played board games, took pictures, took part in different competitions and of course enjoyed a concert from the main guests of the evening “Carnival Youth”.

    Whereas on the last day of the “Ventspils IT challenge 2017” competition the students and the teachers together went on excursions to get to know the city of Ventspils. They visited Ventspils Creativity House, Science and Technology Museum Kurzeme Demo Centre, Ventspils Technical College, The Castle of the Livonian Order, Ventspils University College and companies “TestDevLab”, “Malmar Sheet Metal” and others.
    The competition ended with a festive awards ceremony in Ventspils University College. The participants were greeted and congratulated by the 1st deputy chairman of the Ventspils City Council on infrastructure issues Jānis Vītoliņš and the head of the Ventspils University College Kārlis Krēsliņš.
