    Name of the Game: AŞURE

    Topic: The Fruits

    Function: To be able to describe likes and don’t likes

    Duration: 40 mins

    Ages for : 9-10 (3rd / 4th grade students)

    Number of players : 10 (can be changed according to different conditions)

    Needs:

    • A board
    • Chalk
    • Flashcards of the fruits ( for the number of students)
    • band

    How to play:

    • As a warm up activity for the game, students are asked to brainstorm about the names of the fruits they remember and they are written on the board.
    • Just the names of the fruits flashcards  are left on the board, and the others are cleared.
    • According to the physical conditions of the class, 10 students are chosen as volunteers.
    • Every student randomly chooses one flashcard without seeing its front. And they stick the flashcards on their fronts.
    • Then they all make a circle.
    • The teacher starts the game by looking at the words on the board and forming a sentence like “ I don’t like strawberry”.  The student who has a strawberry card on his front answers : “I like strawberry, but I don’t like apricot”. The strawberry and the apricot change their places in the circle, and the strawberry turns his back to the group. Now, it is the Apricot’s turn, he says : “I like apricot, but I don’t like watermelon”. Now, the Apricot and the Watermelon change their places and the Apricot turns his back. Now it is the Watermelon’s turn. The game goes on like this until all the names of the fruits are told. The last student who has not turned his back yet is eliminated.
    • The game starts again with the other 9 students . And it lasts until only 1 student is left. And the student who is left after all is the winner of the game.
