Understandings of GMO - Interview
-
Overall, Gene Modification needs further research concerning its danger against the mankind and the environment. It is currently too early to give a concrete answer. According to the European Commision, in the European wide research conducted for a decade from 2001 to 2011 (http://ec.europa.eu/research/biosociety/pdf/a_decade_of_eu-funded_gmo_research.pdf) with france as a center of research, they were not able to find any evidence that proves the GMO products to be harmful against human health and to cause serious defection or malfunction of organ systems of a mankind, same as what Monsanto, Cargill, and Bayer Cropscience has confirmed. This research has been conducted with help of numerous kinds of samples varying from Eurice, Nonema, BT-Bionota and so on and so forth.
-
Though due to GMO design aims of major companies like monsanto, cargill and syngenta, serious harm on natural environment caused by chemical products necessary for cultivation of GMO crops such like RR, Tordon(aka 2,4,5,7-T), Mirex, Dodecacloro and POEA of Monsanto. Such chemical agents have been proved to be even harmful than what the manufacture claims by EPA.
-
Thus lack of diversity of chemicals used also has caused biological evolution of eradication targets, leading to more chemical-resistant weeds, bacterias and vermins. This eventually leads to design of new kinds of GMO crops needing even stronger chemical agents for cultivation or in other words, much poisonous.
-
Also some GMO crops even aim non-chemical reliant cultivation, including vermin-killing chemical components in its biological structure though such GMO products proved itself to be able to cause harm for a living organism including mankind. Given examples are MON810, MON863 and NK-603 of Monsanto.
-
Theoretically, crossbreeding of man-grown GMO crops and non GMO plants in the nature also may cause unexpected and serious problems, though such cases are still not found. Such concerns have also caused rumors about terminator genes of GMO crops of Monsanto and other GMO labs but proved not to be true
- The biggest concern of the wide-spreading of GMO is Gene and patent monopolization of multi-national gene and food corporations such like Monsanto, Cargill and Syngenta. It is noticeable that small-scale, independent farmers of LEDCs like India, Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil has gone through a severe downfall after the starting of cultivation of GMO seeds of above mentioned GMO giants.
