Bilingual Education and CLIL

  • Liceo Aristotele has been a  Cambridge School since 2014: it means that, after a rigorous selection, we have been allowed to teach some subjects in English, using the Cambridge Assessment International Education Syllabus at the IGCSE level (International General Certificate of Education).

More than 400 schools in Italy have chosen to become a Cambridge school.

A National Network, Scuole Cambridge d'Italia has been created to support this project

At Liceo Aristotele, pupils learn the IGCSE curriculum and, at the end of two years, sit for their IGCSE Exams, gaining and internationa certificate.

The subject involved in IGCSE exams in the last 8 years have been:

    - Geography

    - Mathematics

    - Physics

    - Photography

    - English as a Second Language

What is the difference between CAIE teaching and CLIL methodology?

    - CLIL follows the Italian curriculum, while CAIE follows the Cambridge curriculum for the IGCSE level

    - CLIL is taught by Italian teachers with a good command of English, CAIE is taught by both an Italian and an English teacher working together

    - CLIL presents the Italian model of education mainly based on a solid knowledge of content and procedures; CAIE offers a more international, flexible and modern approach, dedicated to the acquisition of GLOBAL SKILLS!
