A virtual exchange can be a great opportunity to make students meet their peers from other nations. Using ITC tools it is very easy to arrange a meeting, whether a class discussion or a peer to peer interview.
There are great opportunities to be explored and they will all lead to the development of really many Key Competences, among which Foreign Language, use of ITC, citizenship, critical thinking, culture awareness, European dimension of learning, creativity, group work, peer work, collaboration, public speaking, debating.
What else?
Virtual exchange between
Liceo Aristotele in Rome and Silkeborg High School in Denmark.
First the Italian and the Danish students completed a self-presentation on Padlet, then they made a video about their school and the subjects they study.
Later on they were asked to present their culture on short power point presentations.
Finally, the day of the virtual meeting arrived and they were both excited and committed to their work. They had a set of questions to be used as a leading thread to their interview, they worked in peers: one asked questions and one tokk notes. In the follow-up, they related to the class what they had learnt about their Danish partners.
To add up, as the Danish teachers are having a Sociology Module on Immigration Policies, they prepared a questionnaire to be filled by their Italian partners. It was a great opportunity for the class to learn and reflect on Italian immigration policy.
the students' work finally was evaluated as their Citizenship Module for the first term.
All the work done can be found on the Padlet;
