    EYFS: PROJECT PLAN

    MAPPING OUR ETWINNING JOURNEY

    What pupils will learn:

    1. Language for Communication:  Pupils will speak in a familiar group and will talk about their ideas.
    2. The world: children know about similarities and differences in relation to places, objects, materials and living things. They talk about the features of their own immediate environment and how environments might vary from one another.

    What we will do:

    1. Each school will use the eTwinning Journey’s resource to identify where the partner schools are.
    2. Pupils will use atlases to help them to identify where each county is and pinpoint them on the map.
    3. Teachers will show the map on the twinspace on the interactive whiteboard.
    4. Pupils will be helped to identify the partner country.
    5. Teachers will circle the country on the map and tell the children about the school.
    6. Pupils will decide what they want to share with the partner school/s about their own school and local area.
    7. Teachers will use web tools or apps to support pupils in presenting their school to the project partners.
    8. Schools will use the pre-embedded map of Europe on thinglink https://www.thinglink.com/scene/820003025400627201 to pinpoint their own school and provide some information.
    9. Each school will complete the passport for their own school ready to post.
    10. Children will complete a simple passport to send to their partners with a photo (if allowed) or a drawing of themselves and their name and age.  For some children they may add some extra writing.  Pupils could also be recorded talking about themselves and a QR code created to share with their partner schools.

    Getting to know each other:

    1. Pupils will continue to present information following on from the passports.
    2. If possible, a Skype session will be set up and children will be able to say hello to each other.
    3. Children will show a picture they have drawn or painted and will say what they like doing.

    Homework Challenge 4:

    1. Children will try a food from another European country.  For some children this may need to be completed in homework club in school.

    Homework Challenge 6:

    1. Children will listen to a song in a different European language.
    2. Teacher will share some links for parents/carers to access some age appropriate songs.

    Homework Challenge 10:

    1. Parents will be encouraged to cook a dish from another European country.  Recipe suggestions will be given.  The activity could also be completed in school.

    Homework Challenge 16:

    1. Children will learn what the United Kingdom flag looks like and the flag of the partner country.
    2. They will learn the capital of England and the capital of the partner country.   This could also be completed in school.

    Homework Challenge 19:

    1. Learn Happy Birthday in another European language.
    2. Ask the children to practice at home by sharing a link.
    3. When singing happy birthday in school, sing it in both English and another European language.

    EVALUATION

    1. Teachers will complete an evaluation of the project using a google form to answer the same questions.
    2. Pupils will have evidence of work in their learning journeys that shows their progress in the key objectives.
