Tolerance, Acceptance and Gratitude

  • TOLERANCE and ACCEPTANCE

It is not easy to understand grandparents, they belong to a different generation they come from a "different world". And in order to understand and accept that world we need to learn about it. It is almost impossible to understand if we don't take our time to communicate and have some time together.

    1. Read the articles on the topic

Tolerance will help bridge the generation gap

How to bridge the generation gap

    2. You can have a meeting as a class with your grandparents. See the Moldovan experience below. Share your own.

On April 7, the Moldovan Team had a wonderful meeting with 3 grandparents from the project "Bringing Generations Together.
We discussed about new and old.
We saw a film about the city of the grandparent's youth (Chisinau of the year 1970) then we had a wonderful sharing session of comparing what has changed, what has remained the same.
Grandparents brought old pictures of their childhood and youth and we also compared the clothing style of 1970s and now. They shared their memories of how life was back when they were of school age and what was their relationship with their parents. How that changed.
It was such an inspiring and enriching experience.
    It was absolutely FANTASTIC!

Here is the lesson plan if anyone wants to adjust it to their city and reality and have a similar one.

    GRATITUDE

Most of the people come to appreciate and be grateful to things only after they lose them. Our parents, grandparents are not immortal and we need to cherish and appreciate them and get the most from our relationship with them whle they are still with us.

They teach us a lot of things that we take for granted and forget as we grow old.
