The village of Abarán is on the Northern half of the autonomous comunity of the region of Murcia, on the South-East corner of Spain. It belongs to Ricote Valley, and it is watered by the Segura River.
It has an extension of 115,38 km2 and a semi-arid climate, with very little rainfall. However, it is surrounded by fertile vegetable gardens, thanks to a well planned watering system.
It has a population of 12.632 inhabitants (according to the 2003 census), it is surrounded by beautiful towns like Cieza, Ricote, Blanca or Fortuna, and it is 40kms from Murcia city, the capital of the region.
Our highschool in Abarán is a state school called "Villa de Abarán", with over 70 teachers and around 750 students, studying either Compulsory secondary education, Higher education (voluntary Bachillerato), or Professional training courses on Electricity and Administration.
