    • Arrival of the Partners
    • Teachers and students from partner countries arrived at different hours and met by Turkish teachers at the airport.

    • Visit to İMKB Ş. Umut Sami Şensoy Anadolu Lisesi

    -Welcome activities at school

    The host school organized welcome activities for he first day of our meeting. They watched gymnastic show and Turkish folk dance with traditional musical instruments.

    10:30-13:00

    • Project meeting: Presentations

    All teachers and students in the Project group joined the warm-up activity named “balloons”. They introduced themselves and tried to find the people on ballons. Students of partner schools presented their work to each other. Turkish school made a presentation about the history of olympic games from past to the present. We went on with the stories of the city names, the situation of our cities in Roman time. Then we painted students’ and teachers’ hands to build an erasmus+ Project friendship tree.

    • Model city workshop. Teachers from Project group studied on the model city. Right after finishing the model city they came together to give it a name: “Urbem Amicita” which means the city of friendship in Latin Language.

    • A city tour to Tarsus: We visited Nusrat mine layer (an important figure in dardanelles War in 1915-1918), Cleopatra gate (one of the relics from roman era), Roman road excavation site(roads with built in sewage system and home artifacts), Saint paul’s well(another relic from the early period of Christianity), Old Tarsus houses and road (from the ottoman era), relics of old Roman bath, Ulucami (a mosque from islamic era) and Kırkkaşık bedesten(a small historic bazaar area).

    • Dinner at school (teachers only-with other teachers at school) We came together at the dormitory part of the school to have a dinner together with the families of teachers. This activity aimed to foster friendship and reduce prejudice. After dinner music teacher and some students from host school showed some examples of Turkish music. We tried to make our guests feel the cultural athmosphere of Turkish culture, culinary and costume.

    • Cultural visit to Mersin-Silifke : We visited Viranşehir(a Roman road with intact coloumns), Muğdat mosque (a fine example of historic mosques), Ayaş (a Roman city ruins on the coast of mediterennean with fine examples of bath mosaics), Kızkalesi (A sea castle ruin from Roman Era). After lunch we visited Uzuncaburç (Ruins of a Roman city) and then we visited Astım cave (a karst cave in Narlıkuyu) to show our most important Roman relics and architecture.

    • Olympic games: olympic games started with the dance show that host school prepared, and then athlethic teams were formed by students from different countries. The teachers lit the olympic fire with torches. All the participants are given crown from olive leaves. First game is a team cooperation and coordination game for walking on boards held by teammates. Florian’s team won this game and they were awarded with presents. Second game was sprint running. First three are awarded with medals from boys, girls and teachers.

    • Visit to Eshab-ı Kehf  and Taşkuyu Caves (two important caves in the city): It is believed that seven sleeper slept in Eshanı kehf cave during the Roman time. All the partcipants listened to the story of seven sleepers. We also visited Taşkuyu cave which has extraordinary karst structures

    • Free time in Tarsu shopping mall. Students and teachers enjoyed some free time in a shopping mall.

    • CULTURAL and HISTORICAL VISIT TO CAPPADOCIA:

    Cappadocia, which is in UNESCO world heritage list, is one of the most famous and mostly visited touristic and cultural ares in Turkey with its natural and historical beauties.

    We visited Derinkuyu underground city (the biggest in the world). Then we visited Güvercinlik a good place to see the geographic structures of fairy chimneys. And then we visited a clayworks workshop. Then we had lunch at Kapadokya MYO and attended a short presentation about university life in Kapadokya. Afterwards we visited fairy chimneys in Ürgüp.

    • We visited Director of National Education: We talked about the education systems, made comparisons, gave examples from each country and exchanged ideas..

     

    • Olympic games:

    Jareed throwing, rope pulling, shot pot, throwing discus, box match, jumping, etc. All the students from host and guest countries were involved in the games. The winners were awarded with medals and some other type of presents.

    After all the olympic games were over, the host country gave the attandance certificates of the partners. We also gave some other memorial matyerials such as plates, cups and small souveniours as a memory from our country.

    • Seminar (Team work and creativity)

    We visited another college called “Tarsus American College”  to have worksop activities with their students in order to reinforce cooperation, communication and team work abilities. They also listened to the teachers from the USA, Canada and other European countries.

    They involved in an outdoor activity, as well.
