Bist Umut Sami Şensoy Anadolu Lisesi is located in Tarsus, Mersin province in the Mediterennean region of Turkey. Tarsus is a city rich in historical, natural and cultural beauties. Many people from different ethnic groups and cultures live in peace and in a harmony in this city.
Umut Sami Şensoy Anadolu Lisesi is a general state high school preparing its students for university education and also raising responsible, respectful to universal values, successful and virtuous students within the general objectives of Turkish ministry of education. The students are between the ages of 15-19. There are currently 584 students and 40 teachers. There are 20 classrooms with interactive white boards, 2 science labs, a reading room (library), a room for table tennis and dart games. There is a little football pitch and a combined volleyball and basketball court in the school. There are football, futsal and volleyball teams for boys and girls. Our school has joined different kinds of sport competitions so far and got good degrees. In our curriculum, there are lessons concerning science, social studies, sports, health and languages.
There is a dormitory for boys and girls with a capacitiy of 300 students for those who don’t have access to high school education within their village or town. Our school offers opportunities to these disadvantagous students with the help of sportive, cultural activities and European community projects to widen their horizons
