    Table design is very important for us (at home or outside). We pay close attention to the concept. Appropriate plates and napkins are used. Usually turkey or chicken is cooked. We have a special stuffed rice and the turkeys are filled with this chestnut stuffed rice. We definitely have olive oil appetizers. We prepare cheese plates and most importantly we make cookies. In the past, it was not so important, but now the new generation really pays attention to this visual feast.

    At Christmas we usually eat cod or turkey. In the dessert pumpkin cakes and sweet rice and each family makes other delicacies according to their preferences.

    In Italy traditional dishes are different from one region to another. We usually don't eat meat on Christmas eve, we have meat or vegatables and cakes of various kind. On Christmas day we have a big lunch with baked pasta, meat, potatoes and other vegetables. We finish lunch with dried fruit and cakes. Famous traditional Italian cakes are pandoro, panettone and nougat.

    Our Christmas dish is turkey stuffed with minced meat, rise, raisins, pine nuts and chestnut. The traditional Christmas sweets are melomakarona (baked with honey sirup and nuts) and kourambiedes (With almonds inside and powder sugar outside). There is no Christmas If all the houses and homes don't bake melomakarona and kourambiedes. And it is always a battle between people what is better. The Quesyion is melomakarona or kourabiedes?

    In Italy there is a huge variety of recipes for Christmas dinner and lunch. There are different plates in the various region of the country. We usually eat fish in the evening of the 24th december and meat at lunch on the 25th. Dinner and lunch are closed with fruit and a dessert. These are various but the most famous and eaten in all the country is panettone. It has its origin in Milan, in the North of Italy and it is a sort of sweet bread containing candied orange, citron, lemon zest and raisin. It takes several days to make a panettone but it's really delicious.
