Colégio do Marítimo, founded in 2006, is located in Funchal (Madeira Island), Portugal. The school is located in the parish of Santo António, in which a low social environment, with more rural characteristics, coexists with a medium social environment, with urban characteristics. As such, the students who attend the school come from these two types of environment, thus registering a heterogeneous school body.

Colégio do Marítimo stands out nationally for being the first school in the country associated with a sports club and in which students’ intellectual and socio-emotional skills are developed through sport. Over the years, the school has grown and has, at the moment, 308 students and a team of 44 members that are distributed by kindergarten teachers, teachers, assistants and administrators. Also, the school currently has 15 classrooms (2 nurseries, 5 preschool classrooms and 8 1st cycle classrooms, 2 per each year of schooling).
