ITCG Fermi, Pontedera, Italy

  • ITCG Fermi was founded in 1959 as a technical school for Accountants. In the school year 1991/92 a course for Surveyors was introduced, and then, in the following years, a course for computer programmers, a tourism course and a farming course were added. Now it is the biggest school in our province, with about 1300 pupils.

In the latest years we have tried to do our best to improve the ecological footprint of our school, but it was quite difficult to change our students' habits. This year, we've been doing a lot more, thanks to a group of motivated teachers and several 1st and 2nd grade students.

We are trying to apply for an Erasmus partnership because we believe that by seeing what is done in other countries our students can understand better what we can achieve by taking small steps in a large community.

The farming section is also giving a great contribution to making our school greener, by planting fruit trees, herbs and plants!

We also have bees, and we make honey!
