Mureck - The MurAuen - Land

 

 

Mureck is a 900-year-old city in Austria. It's situated near Graz, which is the second biggest city in Austria. Mureck has around 3600 inhabitants and is just some minutes away from the border to Slovenia.

Mureck is very famous for its wine, pumpkins and the nature. Even though it's a small city you can do lots of trips here. You can visit the Murturm for example. It´s a 27 metre high tower, which was the only Austrian architecture nomination in a worldwide competition in Sao Paulo, Brazil. You reach the top of the tower after climbing 168 stairs up. On the top you'll have a fantasic view over Mureck and the surrounding nature.

Another example for a daytrip is the Murecker Schiffsmühle. The Schiffsmühle is an old mill in the Murauen. You can have a guided tour and a lovely dinner. Or you do a biketour to the Murfähre. It´s a 140-year-old ferry, which takes you across the Mur-river. It´s very popular with bikers and hikers.
